Say Her Name! Beyonce Makes Prestigious List in Fortune Magazine

NEWS

She’s performed at two Super Bowl Halftime shows and even at a presidential inaugural ball! Already, at the age of 35, her career, both solo and with the popular group, Destiny’s Child, has spanned over a decade, where she has earned multiple Grammy Awards—sixteen total, thus far! The list does not end there. She has also honed her entrepreneurial skills with numerous other business ventures and has hit the big screen. It’s no wonder Beyonce had made Fortune Magazine’s list of “Most Powerful Women!”

Beyonce Knowles has had a very successful and lucrative run, whether in music, film, or the corporate world. She is the first female to have twelve songs on the Billboard top 100, all of which come from her sixth solo album, Lemonade. Moreover, she is the only crooner in history to have all six of her solo albums reach the top of the list on Billboard.

Nonetheless, in a society where fans are turning more toward internet download and streaming to obtain their favorite music and movies, Beyonce has accomplished the seemingly impossible with her self-titled album, Beyonce. During the first weekend of its release, back in 2013, sold 800,000 copies, but ironically, the album was not promoted in the usual manner before being released; plus it was sold exclusively on iTunes. Ultimately, the album did actually go platinum.

In addition to performing onstage and acting, Beyonce has also made a name for herself in the realm of business. In 2007, she founded her own entertainment and Management Company called Parkwood Entertainment and as of this year, added a music label. So far, three, upcoming female artists have been signed on. She’s also taken on new ventures in the fashion domain by creating a line of athletic/leisure clothing labeled Ivy Park. Likewise, she has reached out to other women by investing in the first business start-up to found by an all-female team. The name of this fledgling company is WTRMLN WTR or commonly known as watermelon water. So showing support to her female business counterparts appears to be a top priority for Beyonce. As one can see, she has worked tirelessly to join the ranks of CEO’S who are now listed in Fortune Magazine.
